New Year, New Studio

The Studio gallery is now situated at 32 Mako St. in Oneroa, with a satellite studio and observatory on beautiful Aotea, Great Barrier Island.

The studio at Trig Hill, situated high on a forested ridge on the cross-island walkway between Whakanewha Regional Park and Onetangi had been my studio for many happy years and now it’s time to share it forward to a new family of creatives to work and enjoy.

The next exciting chapter with the studio observatory on Aotea, (following on from Trig Hill) will be another base for artists, writers, stargazers, hikers, forest lovers, bird watchers, and those who want to experience and contribute to the glorious natural environment that Aotea, Great Barrier Island has to offer. Cannot wait to share the journey!

Gallery hours are Sunday – Tuesday 11 – 4 or just ring 021 887819 to arrange a visit to suit. If the sign is out, the studio is open.

The new 2023 Art Map is due for launch in December 2022, with an exhibition at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery opening 16 December, see you there!

Winter 2022..sort of

Night Swimming - Galactic Core from Alison Park

Here we are, mid May and I’m in a T shirt! It’s been a while since I’ve posted and there’s a LOT going on. We’ve had a great summer with Sculpture on the Gulf, Sculpt Oneroa, new galleries and studio’s opening on the island (check out the 2022 Art Map) and more! The project for this winter is exploring the DARK!. It’s galactic Core season, (speaking with my astro hat on) and familiar places are magic by night, it’s amazing, beautiful and inspiring!

Check out a few initial ‘sketches’ – Watch this Space!

Check out the latest at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery and Facebook pages Kahui Creative Network and Waiheke Artists. Take care everyone!

News and events!

Well what a summer, intermittent lockdowns, in between the island is a flurry of events and activities engaging the domestic market to come along and visit.

I’m really looking forward to a quiet winter creating with a list a mile long from trips to the South Coast of the Wairarapa, Rakiura Stewart Island and around Waiheke.

Winter is a time to hunker down and back into the garden, always a source of inspiration and peace, and looking forward to a bit of rain!

Visit again soon for a more detailed schedule of  events and new works, until then, keep creating!

Looking forward to Level 2!

So looking forward to getting back in the studio again, it’s been so busy over these last few weeks. It has  flown by in its own strange way. As we all move onto the next stage of this journey, stay safe, be kind, create!

Summer Studio days and Stargazing Nights

It has been an extraordinary few months of hot dry weather, great for the beach and fantastic sunsets. (Looking forward to a bit of rain tho’! :))

Pop into the studio this weekend on the way up to Peacock Sky’s Trig Hill Craft and Music Fair this Sunday March 1.

If the weather keeps up it’ll be another sunset session on the deck and Stargazing later on in the evening. Glorious!

In other news:  as you know some of my paintings are a bit large!  So I’ve been producing a selection of postcards, a few ‘transportable moments in time/a landscape’ ‘takeaway versions 🙂  available at the studio and at the Waiheke Community Art Gallery  #studiodays #waihekesummer #alotmoretoexplore

Studio Sunday!

Hey there! What a week! After experiencing last weeks strange skies here, from over 2,000 kms away, hearts and hands go out to Australia, where the bush-fires are still raging. I can’t knit, (yet:)) so all works are on summer sale, (making room for a new suite of paintings over 2020) and all proceeds towards WIRES. https://www.wires.org.au/
